Multi-Tiered System of Support

Meaning:  Multi-Tiered System of Support is a name for a student intervention system centered on collaborative problem solving.  Teachers get together monthly to discuss student needs and develop plans for addressing those needs.  If classroom interventions are insufficient a team will be formed and an intervention plan drafted with input from parents.  There are different tiers in this system that represent different intensities of intervention.

What MTSS is Not:

  • It is not an IEP or 504 plan.  It is a good faith effort on part of the school to meet the needs of your child.
  • It is not a block of time in the school schedule.  It is a system that works to meet the needs of all children
  • It does not mean your child will necessarily be pulled out of the classroom or given one-on-one support.

Mission:  To provide all students the resources they need to experience a positive and safe learning environment by working collaboratively to address student needs.
