Head Cook

Elgin/New Leipzig Public School District #49 is looking for a Head Cook to start the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full time 9 month position with benefits. The linked job description will give the responsibilities and duties for this position. Some of these responsibilities include:

• Prepare and plan menus in accordance to dietary guidelines and follow them with minimum deviation.

• Prepare, plan, and serve breakfast and lunch and maintain a salad bar in accordance to federal, state, and district guidelines and requirements.

• Prepare and assist with special programs like milk breaks and fresh fruit and vegetable breaks.

• Prepare lunches for field trips or school events

• Purchase and maintain an inventory of food supplies and equipment.

• Obtain commodities based on availability and need.

• Maintain and supervise the cleaning of all kitchen surfaces, serving and dining areas. Complete and supervise the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware and utensils.

• Attend appropriate workshops and seminars and keep abreast of new development and requirements.
